Technical Flats, Illustrations or CADs?
Starting any business venture can be an overwhelming task, especially if the industry you’re targeting is flooded with keywords and jargon you need to navigate before you can hold any type of conversations that feel like you’re finally getting somewhere.
A technical flat is a computer rendered drawing of your final design intended to clearly display all construction details from seams to stitch lines to ensure clarity between the concept and moving forward into pattern cutting and sample development. Annoyingly and certainly confusingly, these are also refferred to as technical illustrations, flats or CADs (Computer Aided Designs). No wonder it feels like a minefield when your conversations with various people use various terminology.
