What was your background prior to launching in the fashion industry?
None us had any background in apparel other than being consumers. My background is business and my wife Julie, is a professional photographer and has been for 35 years. Reagan had taken a couple of TAM classes in college but none of us really had a lot. We started during the pandemic and it was and still is Reagan's brainchild.
What was your starting point and where has your experience with XJD taken you?
We had used another designer from Nashville, TN. She and her husband were amazing and the right fit for us at that time. They were willing to answer our questions and kind of hold our hands through the first process. That was our Fall collection so that was designed and manufactured and it was time to start our Summer collection. So I reached out to our designer and learned she was pregnant and leaving the business. She worked in NYC for some huge brands but she decided to call it quits. That is when I began looking for a new designer. I stumbled on to a platform called Sewport. Somehow, someway, we met Alexandra on there and the rest is history. The most important piece to me is that my daughter connects with the designer. Reagan loved her from the first call.
How did you find the process working together?
Alexandra is amazing. She takes a little different approach than our first designer. She is super busy so she can't just drop what she is doing on a whim and answer your 20 questions. You actually have to schedule a call but she is super responsive and always gets back to you. Her work is incredible. So we have had two wonderful designer experiences. As long as Alexandra stays put we won't have to go looking for another one.What's been the most unexpected outcome of working with Xandra Jane Design?
How organized and timely she is. She has this down to a science. Once she puts you on her calendar she will complete the desired work in the timeframe she committed to.
Which Xandra Jane Design service helped you the most and why?
I'm not sure I can prioritize which service has been the most helpful. We have truly loved the experience.
What plans do you have for the future of your brand?
The sky is the limit. Our first collection is out in the marketplace so we are a young apparel company who is trying to find its way. We finally have most of our team put together. We have a social media manager, we have our Klaviyo specialist helping us with flows and campaigns. We have a web designer who continues to make tweaks with our site. We are truly building a vertical with the brand but we are starting to explore wholesaling our styles in the boutique world. We are really pumped up about what the future holds.
